1. Information We Collect

• Google/YouTube Account Information: To use the SoCurio Web App or to save your local notes from the Chrome Extension to your cloud dashboard, you must sign in using your Google account. When you do, we collect your basic profile information, specifically your email address and username, to create and manage your SoCurio account. (Please note: The core features of the SoCurio Chrome Extension can be utilized entirely locally without an account or login.)
• Usage Data: We collect YouTube Video IDs and exact timestamps only through your explicit actions—such as when you manually import a video URL into the SoCurio web app, or when you explicitly choose to create and save a note using our Chrome Extension. We do not passively track your general YouTube browsing history across the web.
• Payment Information: When you purchase a Premium upgrade, your payment is processed securely by our Merchant of Record, Lemon Squeezy. We do not collect, process, or store your credit card details or billing address. We only receive information about your purchase status (e.g., whether the payment was successful) and the email associated with your transaction to upgrade your account.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide, maintain, and upgrade the SoCurio service.
• Process your transactions and send related information, including purchase confirmations and receipts.
• Analyze aggregated, anonymized data to understand learning trends and user preferences. This anonymized metadata may be used for statistical or commercial purposes in the future.
• Communicate with you regarding your account, support requests, or service updates.

3. Third-Party Services & Google API Compliance

SoCurio uses YouTube API Services. Your interaction with the video player is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Revoking Access: You can revoke SoCurio's access to your YouTube/Google account data at any time via the Google Security Settings page.

SoCurio's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal identifying information (like your email or private notes) to third parties. We only share information with third parties in the following limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: We share necessary data with trusted third-party services required to operate our app, such as Lemon Squeezy for payment processing. These providers are bound by strict data protection agreements.
• Aggregated Data: We may share aggregated, non-personally identifiable metadata (e.g., "30% of users re-watched this 5-minute segment of a coding tutorial") with partners or for analytical purposes.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to access, update, or delete your account and personal information at any time. The fastest way to completely delete your data is by using the "Delete Account" option directly in your SoCurio account settings.

6. Third-Party Analytics and Session Recording

We use third-party analytics services, including PostHog, to understand how users interact with our website and to improve our product experience. These tools automatically collect specific technical data, including your browser type, device information, and the pages you visit. To highly protect your privacy, we have configured our analytics tools to actively discard and not store your IP address.

Additionally, we utilize PostHog’s session recording feature. This feature captures your interactions on our website—such as mouse movements, clicks, and scrolling—which helps us identify technical issues (bugs) and optimize the user interface.

Protection of Sensitive Data: We have configured our analytics tools to automatically mask sensitive information (e.g., passwords and personal input fields) so that it is never recorded or stored on our servers or third-party servers. All collected data is strictly used for internal product improvement purposes and is never sold to third parties.

Please note: These third-party analytics and session recording tools are ONLY active on the Socurio.app website. We DO NOT use session recording, keystroke logging, or mouse-tracking within the Socurio Chrome Extension on YouTube.
